What are license crossgrades?

Barcode Essentials Solution 7.6 & 8.0 are new product lines as of 2015, not an upgrade from previous Barcode Essentials versions. They require their own device licenses designed specifically for SMP 7.6 and above.

Older Barcode Essentials licenses for SMP 7.1 - 7.5 are not compatible with Barcode Essentials 7.6 / 8.0 but can be crossgraded to receive a trade-in discount on new licenses. Symantec Barcode Solution licenses can also be crossgraded, even though they are for a different product.

The trade-in value of each license you crossgrade is:

Only 1 license can be crossgraded for each new license you buy, and a license can only be crossgraded once.

Crossgrade examples

EXAMPLE 1:

          •  You own 3 device licenses for Barcode Essentials 7.1 - 7.5,

          •  and 2 nodes of Symantec Barcode Solution

You therefore have 5 licenses eligible for crossgrade to Barcode Essentials Solution 7.6 / 8.0.

If you buy 10 new licenses for Barcode Essentials 7.6 / 8.0, you can trade-in all your licenses to receive crossgrade discounts off 5 licenses in your order.

EXAMPLE 2:

          •  You own 35 device licenses for Barcode Essentials 7.1 - 7.5,

          •  and 25 nodes of Symantec Barcode Solution

You therefore have 60 licenses eligible for crossgrade to Barcode Essentials Solution 7.6 / 8.0.

If you buy 15 device licenses for Barcode Essentials 7.6 or 8.0, you can receive crossgrade discounts off all 15 by trading in 15 of the 60 licenses you have, leaving you with 45 licenses you can crossgrade later against more licenses.
